Traction Alopecia is a hair loss which is predominantly found in women and children with Afroid type hair. The most common cause of this condition is hair styling.
Hair styles such as braids, extensions and tight buns cause forceful pulling of the hair.
Traction causes hair to loosen from its follicular roots; however, hair loss
also occurs secondary to follicular inflammation and atrophy around the
hairline perimeter, concentrated to the frontal, temporal and parietal regions.
